Type “coupon site verified” into any search bar and you’ll find a hundred pages promising every code is “tested and working.” Then you paste the code at checkout and it fails. The gap between what those sites claim and what actually happens is the whole reason Nirilivilla exists.

So let’s be precise about what “verified” means here, because the word gets abused. On Nirilivilla, a code is never a guarantee. It’s an estimate, a confidence score built from signals we can actually observe, plus a plain “last confirmed” timestamp so you know how fresh that estimate is. The one thing we don’t do: fake checkouts

Start with the deliberate omission, because it’s the most important part.

The signals we actually use

Every code on our deals pages carries a confidence score. Four inputs feed it. None of them are magic, and each has limits we’ll name.

1. Community votes

The strongest signal is real people telling us what happened. When you use a code, you can mark it worked or didn’t. Those votes are the backbone of the score. A code with a run of recent “worked” votes climbs; a code collecting fresh “didn’t work” reports falls, fast.

We weight recent votes far more heavily than old ones, because a code that worked last month tells you little about today. We also watch for patterns that look like manipulation, a sudden burst of identical votes gets discounted rather than trusted. Votes are noisy and human, but in aggregate they’re the closest thing to ground truth we have, precisely because they come from actual carts and actual checkouts, not a simulation.

We regularly check that the link behind a deal still resolves, that it isn’t a dead page, a redirect to a generic homepage, or a 404. A broken link is a strong sign the promotion is gone. This is a technical check we can run reliably and honestly, because it inspects a public page rather than probing a checkout.

What link health can’t tell us: whether the code itself is still valid. A perfectly live landing page can advertise a promo that quietly expired. So a healthy link raises confidence a little, but it never stands in for a working code.

3. Feed validity

Some offers come from official merchant and affiliate feeds, structured data where the store itself publishes the code, its terms, and an end date. When an offer is backed by a current feed, that’s meaningful: it means the store, not a random submission, is the source. When a feed drops an offer or marks it expired, we treat that as a reason to retire the code.

The limit: feeds are frequently incomplete or lag reality. A store may pull a code from a feed after it stops working, or list one with terms that don’t match the checkout. Feed-backed offers get a confidence bump, but they still decay and still answer to community votes.

4. Recency decay

This is the quiet one that keeps the whole system honest. Confidence in any code drops automatically as time passes without fresh confirmation. A code confirmed working an hour ago and a code last confirmed weeks ago are not the same, and we won’t display them as if they were.

Decay is why you’ll see codes with a modest score even when nothing bad has happened to them, nothing good has happened lately either, and silence is information. If the freshest thing we can say is that it was confirmed a couple of weeks back, you deserve to read exactly that instead of a permanently green checkmark.

How the confidence score comes together

The four signals combine into a single score, weighted roughly in that order, recent community votes carry the most, then feed validity, then link health, with recency decay pulling everything down over time. We show it as a confidence level rather than a hard “verified / not verified,” because the honest answer is almost never binary.

A high score means: recent real-world confirmations, a live link, ideally feed backing, and a fresh timestamp. A low score means some mix of stale confirmations, negative votes, a broken link, or simply time passing. Neither is a promise. A high-confidence code can still fail your specific order, and a low-confidence one might still work. The score is our best honest estimate, nothing more, and we’d rather undersell it than oversell it.

Read the confidence score and the “last confirmed” line together, and treat them as a weather forecast, not a contract. Whether you’re browsing a single retailer or working through the full list of stores we track, a few practical habits help:

  • Prefer codes confirmed recently over ones with a higher score but an older timestamp.

  • If a code fails, vote it down. That single tap is what protects the next shopper, and it feeds directly back into the score you just relied on.
